ABOUT MUSEUM OF DIGITAL ART – MODA

The new Museum of Digital Art on the 2nd floor of River City Bangkok provides visitors two very different exhibition experiences.

MODA Galley shows multimedia animated exhibitions of artists’ work in high-definition projection and surround sound. The first exhibition of 2020 in MODA Gallery, “Something Nouveau” immerses visitors in the works of the golden age of Art Nouveau. Whether you are an expert in the period of art or learning about it for the first time, the immersive exhibition will open your eyes to the magic of this genre of paintings and illustration.

MODA SPACE. Unlike MODA Gallery where the artist’s works are presented through animation and projection, MODA SPACE is an opportunity to enter the works of art in their three dimensional form. In MODA
SPACE you will wear special 3D glasses to transport you into the paintings.

The Something Nouveau exhibition ticket you have purchased through ZIP EVENT gives you access to both experiences: MODA GALLERY and MODA SPACE.

MODA VIRTUAL REALITY STUDIO

MODA VR STUDIO adopts digital technology to take the visitor into a virtual reality world. On entering the MODA VR STUDIO, visitors are fitted with a headset with video screen and headphones. Watch, listen and interact with the world in three dimensions. Create your own digital art, explore new fantasy worlds.

At last night’s official opening, Linda Cheng, Managing Director of River City Bangkok, said “2019, was a turning point for River City Bangkok as we exhibited artwork of not only legendary thai painters and sculptures but also a new generation of contemporary artists. Add to this the 80,000 people of all ages who stood mesmerized at “From Monet to Kandinsky” and “Italian Renaissance”.”

“This is the year we open the Museum of Digital Art in Bangkok. MODA will bring us closer to the famous artworks of the last century through technology in multi-dimensional and immersive ways. Something Nouveau is just the first MODA exhibition. We have chosen the golden period of Art Nouveau featuring Gustav Klimt, Alfonse Mucha and Aubrey Beardsley because we wanted to start the new year with the so-called “new art” of the last century. In addition to MODA Multimedia Gallery and MODA Immersive Room, the MODA VR Studio has been created for visitors to interact with and create art digitally. It is difficult to do it justice in a speech so I will leave you to experience MODA for yourselves. Later on this year, we have yet another ‘first’ for Bangkok - our 15 minutes of fame for all of you to visit and enjoy. But I’ll keep details of that exhibition for another time… soon.”

Oleg Marinin, Managing Partner of Vision Multimedia Projects (VMP), said that “we are extremely proud to present the first Museum of Digital Art in Thailand in collaboration with River City Bangkok. It is a new and unique concept that includes the best of contemporary museum spaces, which are becoming more and more popular with art lovers around the world. Digital art galleries such as BORDERLESS in Tokyo and ATELIER des LUMIERES in Paris. Both were established relatively recently but immediately became desired destinations and top attractions for visitors. BORDERLESS concentrates on immersive installations, whereas ATELIER des LUMIERES focuses on multimedia shows. Our new project – MODA in River City Bangkok has all these and more. Our goal is to introduce new innovative format of presenting the art called Artainment that MODA Bangkok is a multi-layered space with constantly changing digital artworks combining both classical and contemporary art.”
“We start with the premiere of multimedia show “Something Nouveau. Klimt, Mucha, Beardsley” – the golden age of Art Nouveau. During its flourishing Art Nouveau movement was true avant-garde. It represented the most remarkable attempt to reconcile the demands of the technical age with the undying wish for beauty and glorification. Visitors will enjoy stunning visuals accompanied by beautiful music. Both elements complement each other and create an unforgettable experience.”

He also explained about the exhibition: “the content will focus on the work being presented from different eras and different locations. Our design team creates animated graphics that will come alive in front of the audiences, and of course they will love the classic Masterpieces. Besides, the walls and floors are transformed into a living canvas.”
