The Duck Donuts story unfolds on the beach of the Outer Banks in Duck, North Carolina. It all started when founder Russ DiGilio and his family were enjoying a vacation in this coastal destination. Yet, they noticed a missing piece—the absence of a go-to spot for warm, freshly made donuts. Fueled by this realization, they decided to take matters into their own hands and thus, Duck Donuts was born.
Duck Donuts made its debut in the northern United States in California in 2007. Russ DiGilio, the founder of Duck Donuts, expressed his motivation, saying, "Our family really wanted a place where we could enjoy fresh, custom-made donuts. But we couldn't find one anywhere. We realized that if we couldn't find what we were looking for, we should decide to start our own donut business.”
