Ministry of Energy joins forces with six other ministries to SETA 2019, now in its 4th year, under the concept of “Integrated Sustainable Energy Solutions For Asia”

Ministry of Energy partners with six ministries, namely the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, together with GAT International Company Limited and it’s international parter Deutsche Messe AG to announce the upcoming Smart Energy Transformation Asia 2019 (SETA 2019) under the concept of “Integrated Sustainable Energy Solutions For Asia”. The conference and exhibition for the renewable energy sector will take place in Bangkok at BITEC Bangna during October 10-12, 2019.

Suraporn Danaitangtrakul, a Deputy Energy Minister, said, “As we all know, energy is vital to our daily lives and the growth of our economy. Most of the energy produced and used in Thailand come from exhaustible natural resources. The government has set strategies for the Ministry of Energy and come up with Thailand’s energy policies in order to improve and encourage the use of alternative energy and clean energy for sustainability and environment protection. To do this, we have supported communities to produce energy from biogas, and in a larger scale we support research and development in hydrogen fuel to reduce CO2 emissions which negatively affect the environment. We aim for Thailand to become the hub of Asean in selling and buying energy, and the hub of Asean’s energy operations. Therefore, we support the Smart Energy Transformation Asia 2019 (SETA 2019) which is one of our strategies in line with our energy policy in improving alternative energy in Asean and strengthening the capability of Thailand as the energy investment hub of Asean. The aim of the ministries and partner is to make SETA 2019 a significant platform for exchanging knowledge and experience, as well as creating a network of those in the energy sector both in Thailand and overseas. It is also a platform for Thailand’s energy industry to showcase their readiness as the hub of energy production and investment in Asean.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tatchai Sumitra, Chairman of SETA 2019, said, “SETA is a very successful integrated energy show of Asean since its launch in 2016. Now in its 4th year, SETA 2019 receives support from various partners in the energy industry, both public and private, to participate in our conference and exhibition under the concept of Integrated Sustainable Energy Solutions For Asia to drive and develop energy knowledge for the future, and to showcase Thailand’s readiness as the hub of alternative energy technology and development for sustainable future. SETA 2019 focuses on transformation in various aspects around the world, particularly in energy after the Paris Agreement which has led to many countries’ energy policy transformation to reduce the use of high-carbon energy sources such as fossils and opt for low-carbon and no-carbon energy sources. Therefore, SETA this year stands for Smart Energy Transformation Asia.”

“Participants of SETA 2019 will have an opportunity to get the latest updates on energy trends and transformation around the world, as well as energy production and development in Asia in the short-term and long-term future, such as hydrogen technology, cooling systems and impact of electrification in transport on the energy sector. The show consists of a conference and workshop part with various emerging energy topics being discussed, such as “CEO Energy Forum” which gives senior industry professionals, politicians and policy makers access to current situation, challenges, solutions and innovations in the ASEAN Energy industry. Participants can also learn more about the growing hydrogen industry in the first Hydrogen Summit in Asia. There are also international seminars from organizations related to energy investment such as Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Council of Engineers Thailand, Waste to Energy Trade Association (WETA), Joint Forces for Solar (JF4S), International Battery and Storage Alliance (IBESA), National Institute of Metrology Thailand (NIMT) and the Ministry of Industry. In addition there will be two side events: “Government Business Dialogue on the Energy Transition” organized by UN ESCAP on Friday, 11 October and “The 1st Japan-ASEAN Multi-Stakeholder Strategic Consultancy Forum” organized by the Thai Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (MEXT) on Saturday, 12 October. I am confident that our participants this year will learn new things and develop new knowledge which will be beneficial to our country’s energy development in the future. We expect some 12,000 participants to join SETA 2019.”

Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, Assistant Governor for Research, Innovation and Business Development, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), said at the press conference of SETA 2019, “As the main sponsor of SETA 2019 and Thailand’s largest electricity generator which plays an important role in Thailand’s and Asean’s energy industry, EGAT is proud to join SETA 2019, which is Asean’s biggest international energy conference and exhibition. On this occasion, EGAT will host a seminar under the topic of EGAT and Innovation for Society, Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid System, which provides useful knowledge to the private and public sectors as well as the general public for the betterment of Thailand’s energy industry.”

SETA is supported by partners in the public sector, state enterprises, and private companies in Thailand and overseas such as EGAT, China General Nuclear Power Group, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), IBM Thailand, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand), B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited, SCG, and PTTEP to showcase their innovations and host seminars at SETA 2019, which will take place during October 10-12 at 9AM - 6PM at Hall 98, BITEC Bangna.
