Advancing the EEC as a Future Economic Hub and
Enhancing Opportunities for Local Community Development

23 June 2026 – Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary General of Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) and Dr. Supawan Teerarat, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the promotion and support of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development through the MICE industry. Witnessing the signing were Mr. Korkij Danchaivichit, Deputy Secretary General of Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) and Dr. Suratsa Thongmee, Senior Vice President of TCEB, together with executives and officials from both organizations. The ceremony was held at the Conference Room, EECO Office, Bangkok.e

Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary General of Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO),
stated, “EECO’s core mission is to drive the development of the EEC area to become a future economic hub of the region through the enhancement of infrastructure, the development of targeted industries, and the creation of an ecosystem conducive to quality investment from both domestic and international investors. The focus is on establishing a foundation for five high-potential industry clusters: comprehensive medical services, digital, modern automotive, BCG, and services, as well as integrating advanced technologies into the manufacturing and service sectors to strengthen the country’s long-term competitiveness.

The signing of this MOU with TCEB today represents an important collaboration between the two organizations to create opportunities and encourage MICE operators from both Thailand and abroad to establish and expand operations in the EEC. It will also serve as an important marketing channel through which EECO will develop and enhance the capabilities of products and services from local communities across the three EEC provinces, particularly products and services that meet the EEC Select standards. In addition, it will help strengthen knowledge and skills in product and service development among entrepreneurs, communities, and community enterprises through MICE-related industries and activities. This will create added value for community products and services, elevate them to better meet market demand, and generate sustainable income growth.”

Dr. Supawan Teerarat, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB said
, “The MICE industry plays a vital role in creating platforms that attract investment, connect networks, foster innovation, and drive collaboration, linking the world to the EEC.

TCEB will leverage the MICE industry as a strategic marketing and investment tool to support the EEC’s target industries, providing investors and MICE travellers from around the world with opportunities to experience the region’s full potential through networking platforms, conferences, exhibitions, business matching activities, industrial site visits, and business networking events.

In addition, TCEB is developing a Factory Visit Routing initiative to connect meetings and investment opportunities with immersive industrial learning experiences across the region. This approach will also help elevate local products and services, creating greater economic opportunities and sustainable benefits for communities within the EEC.”

At the same time, TCEB will drive implementation through three key initiatives: the Empower Eastern Exhibition (EEE) project to promote exhibitions and business activities in targeted industries; the EEC MICE Product Premium project to elevate products, services, and community products in the EEC; and the EEC MICE Cluster Destination project to promote marketing and build domestic and international partnership networks, while enhancing standards for products, services, communities, venues, and events in the EEC in accordance with international standards. These efforts aim to jointly position the EEC as a global destination for investment and MICE.”

The partnership between EECO and TCEB marks another significant step in integrating investment potential and the MICE industry to create business opportunities, facilitate knowledge transfer and technological innovation, and elevate standards for products, services, communities, and events in line with ESG principles. This collaboration will help strengthen investor confidence from around the world, support the government’s economic development policy, and enhance the sustainable competitiveness of the EEC.
